NATIVE TREES AND SHRUBS TO BE DESIGN- FOCUS OF QUAKER RIDGE PROJECT

JSWCD has purchased 102 acres of previously- farmed land with a goal to develop a place for conservation, preservation and education. (The acquisition was made possible through a grant funded and awarded through the Ohio Public Works Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program).

JSWCD intends to embrace the history and literally the plant roots of the property that was platted on June 10, 1808, by Robert Galloway, a prominent and wealthy Quaker from Pennsylvania.

The property now named “Quaker Ridge” will be made into an arboretum and nature trails in order to capitalize on its natural elements. By creating an arboretum and placing a focus on plant materials on the property and the wildlife that benefits from the variety of plants, the property and the mission of the District will blend perfectly together.

A SMALL GESTURE CAN EVOLVE INTO A BIG BENEFIT

Planting native species have almost endless benefits for both your own backyard and the environment as a whole.   Likewise, the design plan for Quaker Ridge will include plantings a variety of almost strictly native woody and herbaceous plants that would have been found in the area at the time of settlement.

A sponsorship donation of a native tree(s) or shrub(s) to the Quaker Ridge project will help to provide plantings for a diverse and healthy sustainable ecosystem.

Your tax deductible donation will serve as a small legacy for future generations….a small gesture with a lasting benefit to provide a quality of life improvement for the citizens of Jefferson County.

To confirm your tax deductible sponsorship, complete the donation line(s) when ordering online or by mailing in the attached order form.
