Salt Spreader Calibration Workshop

Workshop on calibrating salt spreaders for plow trucks. Date: Nov 4, 2026, at Jefferson Co. Engineer’s Garage. RSVP by Oct 30.

ATTN: ALL JEFFERSON COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES & TOWNSHIPS

The Jefferson Soil & Water Conservation District, in partnership with the Jefferson County Engineer’s Office, invites your department to participate in our Salt Spreader Calibration Workshop on Wednesday November 4th, 9:00am, at the Jefferson County Engineer’s Garage. This event allows local road crews and officials to learn the basics of calibrating salt spreading equipment before winter arrives. A properly calibrated plow truck prevents over or under application of salt; saving the driver time and miles, while reducing impacts to the local environment.

This is a hands-on workshop, and we encourage each agency to bring a plow truck with salt spreading equipment attached. Departments who bring a truck will have the opportunity to have their equipment calibrated. If your department does not have salt spreading equipment ready for the event, we encourage you to participate in learning the methods used to obtain an accurate calibration.

What to bring:

  • PPE (gloves, boots, appropriate clothing)
  • Truck with salt hopper / salt spreading equipment
  • Owner’s Manual

Please RSVP by Friday October 30th.

To RSVP, or to learn more about the workshop, please contact Mark Petho, Stormwater Resources Coordinator at (740) 264-9790, or mpetho@jeffersoncountyoh.com.

This worshop is open to ALL Jeffreson County Municipalities & Townships.
